Still more to come!

Been busy with away-from-the-computer tasks…like writing thank you notes, for one!

Still more thank yous and memories and recaps to come. Stay tuned! ๐Ÿ™‚

A start :)

I have SO many thoughts and memories that I want to share, and I’m completely overwhelmed…

I figured that I have to start somewhere, so it might as well be here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

First off, the wedding was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. So many people have commented to one or both of us about how much fun they had, or how lovely the ceremony was, or both…and each time I hear it, it makes me smile.

Knowing myself, I seriously limited my DIY projects so as not to drive myself utterly insane. One of my DIY projects was the table cards.

Rand and I decided to name our tables after famous pop culture couples. We located photos, and I glued the photos to some pretty rose-colored paper I found at JoAnn’s. I wrote the names and a corresponding table number on the back.

We tried very hard to make sure that at least one person at each table would “get” and appreciate the reference. For example, we were sure that Jen and Mark’s table was George Michael and Maeby from Arrested Development.

To make things a little more interesting, we made it into a contest! Rand and I bought a gift card from FYE and had some contest forms printed up. Our friend Thomas, the evening’s official emcee/DJ, collected the entries. I’m not sure who the winner was, but here is the complete list of answers:

Chandler and Monica (Friends, TV)
Buttercup and Westley (The Princess Bride, movie)
Diane and Lloyd (Say Anything, movie)
Pam and Jim (The Office, TV)
Leia and Han (Star Wars, movie)
Zoe and Wash (Firefly/Serenity, TV/movie)
C.J. and Danny (The West Wing, TV)
Desmond and Penny (Lost, TV)
Aragorn and Arwen (The Lord of the Rings, book/movie)
Fry and Leela (Futurama, TV)
Beatrice and Benedick (Much Ado About Nothing, play/movie)
Wayne and Cassandra (Wayne’s World, movie)
George Michael and Maeby (Arrested Development, TV)
Sydney and Vaughn (Alias, TV)
Turk and Carla (Scrubs, TV)
Jesse and Tulip (Preacher, comic book)
Marshall and Lily (How I Met Your Mother, TV)
Lola and Manni (Run Lola Run, movie)
David and Keith (Six Feet Under, TV)
Peter and Mary Jane (Spider Man, comic book)
Harry and Sally (When Harry Met Sally, movie)
Ron and Hermione (Harry Potter series, book/movie)
Lady and the Tramp (uh…Lady and the Tramp. movie)

Rand and I sat at our own “sweetheart” table, and decided to name our table after perhaps the most enduring couple on television…Homer and Marge Simpson! ๐Ÿ˜‰

As soon as I find out who won, I’ll post an update!

30 days…

My counter here says 28, but both WeddingChannel and my facebook counter say 30. At any rate, one month from today, we’ll be getting married! I can hardly believe it.

I still have lots to do, of course. So what am I doing with my free evening? Blogging.

Thanks to everyone who commented about the makeup. Once I looked at the pictures, I decided I liked it so much that I made an appointment with the woman at the Clinique counter to do it on the day of the wedding, rather than spend a bunch of time and money trying to re-create it. Yay!

I especially liked this comment, which I received at flickr:

DaveHuth says:
Wow! Is this gonna be a wedding or a coronation?! Use this one to model your postage stamp after you ascend to the throne ๐Ÿ™‚

38 days to go!

Wow, it’s coming fast…here’s a list of things we still have to do:

  • Meet with the banquet manager at our venue to go over final details
  • Finalize the list of corsages and boutonniรจres needed for the florist
  • Decide what to do about programs
  • Do the seating arrangement
  • Finalize our music lists for the reception
  • Get ribbon for the cake
  • Get some scrapbooking markers for the guest book
  • Find out what time our rehearsal is actually going to start, so I can let people know about the rehearsal dinner

My mom is working on the centerpieces, so I’m not that worried about that.

I’m assuming I’m going to have to go back to the bridal shop for another fitting…I’m just waiting for them to call me.

My headpiece is supposedly on its way to me.

Umm…am I forgetting something? What am I forgetting?

Shower pix

Yes, I have yet to post about shower #2. In the meantime, head over to flickr and check out some photos!

New house

I have some previous house and shower photos which are not yet organized. They’re in the flickr photostream somewhere (fairly recent) if you feel like browsing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wedding music

We have a friend who will be providing acoustic guitar pre-ceremony music as well as accompanying my dad, who will be singing during the ceremony.

I’m trusting Ron to play anything he likes, except that I would like to choose something unique for him to play as I “walk down the aisle” as it were. Of course, we’re getting into a wee bit of a time crunch, so I may end up asking him to show me what he knows and choose something, or go with a recording for my processional.

Also, I haven’t decided what I would like to use for a recessional. This will definitely be a recording, as I don’t think an acoustic guitar will quite have the fanfare I want.

Rand has no opinion about either of these things. Absolutely zero.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? ๐Ÿ™‚

Under two months to go

Invitations have been mailed (and e-mailed). RSVPs are already starting to trickle in, since most people are able to do them online. How exciting! I still have a handful of straggler invitations that need to be sent as well…

We’ll be going over to town hall soon (probably next week) to get our marriage license.

It’s not 100% *wedding* related, but we’ll be moving into our new place next week!

We have the *couples shower* his aunts are throwing for us this Saturday. I have another shower the following weekend.

Here’s what I’m wearing this Saturday:

I have a little ivory-colored sweater to wear over it, because it’s likely to be a bit chilly.

(I’ve become dress girl this season. I can’t stop buying cute little dresses…fortunately, I’m a pretty good bargain shopper! coupons are my friends.)

What’s still left to do? Unfortunately, a lot of what was on my last update! We still have to work on our playlists, finalize our ceremony, meet with our banquet manager, etc. and so forth.

I keep remembering little details that I’m going to need to take care of…like getting ribbon for the cake!

Once my grades for the semester are in (will be done by tomorrow evening), and we’re past the move (next week), I think my brain will be able to focus a little bit more on all these details!

I can’t believe how fast it’s coming…
