Still more to come!

Been busy with away-from-the-computer tasks…like writing thank you notes, for one!

Still more thank yous and memories and recaps to come. Stay tuned! 🙂

We interrupt the wedding updates…

For this article from the New York Times:

It’s Botox for You, Dear Bridesmaids

Uh, yeah…remember that postcard I got from the Center for Plastic Surgery that I thought was so offensive and thoroughly made fun of? I guess the joke is on me.

I think I’ve sprained my eyes from rolling them so hard.

Mysterious plans

Jen has planned a little girls night out for me this evening, which I am very much looking forward to. Earlier today, I was lamenting my lack of appropriate evening wear on twitter, and received this in response:

allthingsjen @eringoblog You should wear a cheerleading outfit. And you should know that I’m not kidding when I suggest this 😉

Should I be frightened? I shall keep you all posted…

Makeup and hair

On Saturday, my lovely headpiece from etsy seller mlrstudio arrived. She custom designed it for me, and I couldn’t be happier.

Today, I was wandering around the mall, and I decided to stop by the Clinique counter to talk about makeup. I’ve always loved Clinique’s skincare line, so I thought I’d give the makeup a shot. The girl at the counter ended up doing  me all up fancy. I took some photos when I got home, and I suppose this is the one that best demonstrates the makeup:

I told her I wanted a natural look. This is basically all bronzes and golds. She suggested I stop in another time to see some other colors before I make a decision. The lip gloss she put on me was a bit sticky, but it does have a lovely shimmer.

Here’s me wearing my new headpiece and earrings, taken at a more reasonable distance from the camera:

My cousin Nikki, who lives in Syracuse and is a hairstylist, is going to do my hair. I still have no idea *what* she’s going to do with it. 😉

I left the Clinique counter with some foundation and concealer (I do have those dark circles under my eyes, which are WAY less noticeable when I’m wearing glasses…). I don’t know yet what else I’m going to get. I probably will go back to try some other colors.

So, what do you think of the makeup?

29 dimensions of compatibility

Warning…this is sort of long!

A while back, I had mentioned my eHarmony story, and there were at least a couple of people who wanted to hear it. I wrote it up once to submit to something or another, so it’s even relatively polished.

I’m going to cut, so you can skip right over it if you want. 🙂 Continue reading

This is the centerpiece idea my mom and I found at Save On Crafts. (The how-to page is here)

We’re talking about putting one of these in the center of each table, with a mirror tile underneath. We found some pretty pastel vellum online to make the shades out of, and my mom’s scrapbooky friend has all the fancy scissors and hole punches you could ever want or need. 😉 Mom’s also talking about getting some sheer ribbon in a coordinating color to tie around the stems.

The site suggests placing foil-wrapped candies on the mirror tiles, but I can’t find any foil-wrapped candies for a reasonable price. (if only you could order Hershey’s kisses in specific colors, but alas…) I’m thinking some pretty metallic confetti would do.

I like it. It’s simple, it’s elegant, and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be terribly time-consuming. What do you think? 🙂

More update-y goodness (with photos!)

This is Rand’s ring:

The inscription on the ring is “That, for Me, is You” (the title of our first dance song). Awww…

Also, we went to the local tux shop yesterday. Rand had his eye on this jacket:

Which has neither a collar nor lapels. I wasn’t sure at first, but after seeing it on him, I think I may be coming around. Tuxedos are weird…it’s kind of hard to shake the image of a limo driver or maitre’d. What do you guys think?

Here’s another photo of the same jacket:

I really liked the shop, which is Marty’s Formal Wear in Williamsville. Reasonable prices, reasonable pickup and return policies, and he owns everything. No ordering. Pretty cool.

And oh! My *pink* shoes arrived today. I think they’re adorable…and in the half hour I had them on, pretty comfy too. Very soft, with excellent arch support.

I am totally loving this bouquet, which I found browsing (aside–am I the only person who finds the site incredibly irritating? I’m not talking about the people on the site, or the content of the site…I’m talking about the site itself. It just seems like it’s constantly bogged down, and it takes forever to do the simplest things. Blech.)

I forwarded the photo to my florist, along with the color scheme I have in mind, to see what we can do…

According to my little counter thingy, I have 129 days until the wedding. Gulp!
